The dream of P&T Colony residents to have new houses will not be fulfilled anytime soon as the rehabilitation project by Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has not begun even seven months after its foundation-laying ceremony. The proposed housing complex project of 88 apartment units in two blocks at 70 cents of GCDA land at Mundamveli is yet to get administrative sanction (AS), the initial clearance from the government to proceed with the project. “Without AS, the project will remain in papers only. We have completed all formalities like the soil test and pollution control board clearance, but the government is yet to clear it. Even after AS is received, technical sanction should be cleared before the foundation or piling works begins. As the elections are around the corner, all these processes will be affected,” said an official. Meanwhile, GCDA chairman G Saleem said that GCDA has been in constant talks with Life Mission and government authorities and the construction would be started soon.
