Property tax collection in Nashik increases by 28%

As compared to last year, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) collected Rs 22 crore more property and water tax. Those who do not pay the dues of water tax in 15 days will have to face disconnection. In 2016-2017, the total property tax collection was Rs 4518.44 lakhs while in 2017-18 the total property tax collection is Rs 5776.51 lakh. There has been significant increase in the tax collection in all the six divisions. The increase in the property tax collection as compared to last year is Rs 1258.07 lakh. Property owners who use solar energy, pay online get subsidies and also those who pay in April get five percent subsidy, in May three percent and in June two percent. Total 7644 property owners use solar energy and the tax collected from them is Rs 7.80 lakh. Tax collected from 124481 property owners who availed of five percent, three percent and two percent subsidy is Rs 89.90 lakh. Online payments were made by 41821 persons and Rs 6.41 lakh was collected. Total property tax amount collected through subsidised rates is Rs 3475.94 lakh. As compared to year 2016-17, this year Rs 929.50 lakh more was collected for water tax. In 2016-17 it was Rs 1067.87 lakh while in 2017-18 it is Rs 1997.36 lakh. Notices were issued to 67838 water tax defaulters out of which 10550 paid total Rs 617.73 lakhs including arears of Rs 417.05 lakh and Rs 200.68 lakh.
