Partners of Gazdar Properties held for duping home buyer
Three partners of a construction firm were arrested by Byculla police for allegedly duping a senior citizen of a flat in South Mumbai late on Friday. A complaint was filed last year against the partners of Gazdar Properties but police arrested Hashir Abdul Gazdar (43), Hakim Sakharwala (55) and MunafWadgama (51) under IPC sections for cheating, forgery and breach of trust, and under Maharashtra Ownership Flats Act (MOFA), only on Friday. They were produced before the Mazgaon metropolitan magistrate, who remanded them to police custody till March 19. Police said Mustafa Madraswala saw an advertisement of a Gazdar Properties housing project on Rani Baug lane in Byculla in 2013. He and his wife Rehaan decided to buy a 900 sqft flat in the upcoming Motiwala Mansion. In 2016, Hakim told them that due to policy changes by the government their project had been stalled, but work would commence soon. Madraswala said that work did not start even in 2017, so he insisted the builder register his agreement. But the builder told him that he would be rehabilitated in another project. Madraswala then learnt that the builder had sold the project to Shahad Realties. Police said they were yet to recover the money paid by Madraswala.
