Over 600 illegal PGs in Mohali
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) has cancelled the allotment of two plots in residential areas for violating paying guest (PG) norms after a report identifying 636 illegal PGs in Mohali was submitted to the Gmada chief administrator on Monday. Checks have been intensified after a fire in a PG accommodation in Sector 32, Chandigarh, snuffed out the lives of three girls on February 22. The Gmada has issued orders of resumption of two plots in Phase 3BI and Sector 71, said estate officer Mahesh Bansal. The owners have been told to get their PGs registered with the authority within 15 days. The maximum illegal paying guests are operating from phases 3B1, 3BII, VII and sectors 70, 71, 76 to 80, according to the report.
