Two weeks after the district administration asked the to conduct a survey around the the officials have submitted a report listing 4,156 properties that have been illegally built in the area. According to the MCG survey report, the properties include 854 commercial buildings, 3,016 residential buildings and 241 mixed-use buildings. “All these buildings are illegal since no construction was ever allowed near the depot. We will start the demolition of theses buildings from December 21,” said senior town planner Sudhir Singh Chouhan. Around two weeks back, deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh had issued instructions to the civic body to curb encroachments within 300 meters of the ammunition depot to ensure the safety of the establishment. Singh, however when approached, said, “We have received the report from the MCG and some aspects need to be re-examined. Our efforts will be to assess the structures in the prohibition zone.”
