Tehsildars may be booked if illegal colonies come up in their areas. It was decided in a meeting attended by police officers and officials of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) that the department will recommend FIRs against tehsildars along with building norm violators. DTCP officials claimed that a nexus between a few tehsildars and violators is posing a hurdle in checking unathorised colonies and construction in the city. According to DTCP records, hundreds of acres of land have been encroached upon and more than 100 illegal colonies have come up on these plots in the past few years. Not only this, many of these colonies got registry done through tehsildars without DTPC’s approval.
