Noida Authority plans to ready indoor cricket stadium

The Noida Authority said that it has decided to rope in former international cricketers Kapil Dev or Madan Lal to help lay the pitch for the cricket stadium being built inside the sector 21A sports facility also known as Noida Stadium. It also aims to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the stadium, once it is completed. “The cricket stadium is to be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 80 crore. With a seating capacity of 25,000 people, it is capable of hosting international cricket matches once it is completed,” according to a senior officials. However, the stadium is expected to be completed in July and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC) certification will be sought for it soon. “We hope that in the next 15 days or so the authority will rope in Kapil Dev, Madan Lal or some other international cricketer who will set up an academy inside the Noida cricket stadium and also help in laying the pitch. Discussions with all these players are at an advanced stage. We have decided to host international, national and state-level matches at this stadium. Our objective is to make it a hub for budding cricketers. The authority wants to create state-of-the-art sports facilities here to groom talented players, who will be coached here,” senior officials added.
