The high court of Bombay at Goa on Friday directed the Navy and director general of civil aviation (DGCA) to initiate action against unauthorised constructions around the Goa International Airport within nine months and submit a compliance report by March 31, 2021. The high court passed the judgement in a writ petition challenging the construction of around seven highrises around the airport and airbase at Dabolim. Among these highrises are buildings owned by panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho's close aide Kamla Prasad Yadav, who has "unauthorised constructions" in survey No. 60/2 of Chicalim by his firm Venture Building Dreams. Yadav is also a deputy sarpanch of Chicalim. The court has also issued directions to DGCA, South Goa collector, Chicalim panchayat and MPDA to ensure that unauthorised constructions are not allowed to come up in proximity of the Goa International Airport.
