Not buckling to pressure from a legislator, Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL), the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) special purpose vehicle for Smart City project, has completed tendering process for housing scheme. Two Gujarat-based companies are in the race for the contract worth Rs245 crore. The contract is related to construction of three buildings with 1,024 flats for rehabilitation of project affected persons (PAPs) of Smart City project. Two buildings have been planned at Bharatwada and one at Pardi in East Nagpur. For execution of works, the rehabilitation of PAPs is a must. The plan is to rehabilitate PAPs in these housing scheme. NSSCDCL had placed a condition that the private agency should have experience of constructing 300 flats, of which 100 with MIVAN technology. Another condition was the private agency should have executed similar works of Rs197 crore. Both these experiences should be from contract given by a government department. The legislator was allegedly demanding NSSCDCL should allow experience from either government or private contracts. Meanwhile, NSSCDCL has also completed the tendering process for appointed of private company to conduct baseline socio-economic survey, preparation and implementation of rehabilitation and resettlement for PAPs. A Chandrapur-based company has bagged the contract.
