Nagpur smart city's housing tender in controversy
A dispute has broken out over eligibility condition for contractor in the tender for construction of 1,024 flats at a cost of Rs 237 crore under Smart City Project. East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde has demanded that the special purpose vehicle Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd (NSSCDCL) should relax eligibility conditions for those who can bid for the work. NSSCDCL has proposed to construct three apartment blocks for rehabilitation of project affected persons (PAPs). Two have been planned at Bharatwada and one at Pardi. NSSCDCL floated tender construction of three buildings in November last year. Pre-bid meeting was held in the same month. NSSCDCL issued a corrigendum in December and extended time for submission of bids from December 7 to 29. It received only one bid, the date was extended to January 7. Chances of project getting delayed due to controversy cannot be ruled out. Housing project is very crucial for beginning work on Smart City Project. Also, Khopde’s cooperation for the project is must as it falls in his constituency.
