Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) seeks land
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), approaches Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) for huge tracts of land for its new and expanding projects. MDL, which constructs warships and submarines for the Indian Navy and smaller vessels for Coast Guard has Rs 23,000-crore order to deliver. Mumbai Port Trust officials said that they are discussing the modalities of leasing land to Mazagon Dock. MDL is asking for the Mumbai Port Trust workshop which is underutilised.MDL is also interested in the Darukhana land where shipbreaking activity has come to a halt. Also, h added that MbPT would charge market rates as MDL is a Central government undertaking. The Mazagon Dock has the deadline to deliver them by 2020. There is certainly huge pressure to deliver on time and the Mazagon Dock Limited needs land soon to start the operations.
