Maharashtra to set-up panel to devise a policy for self-redevelopment of houses
The state cabinet will set up a committee of officers from the departments of housing, urban development, revenue, cooperation and law and judiciary to devise a policy for self-redevelopment. A proposal to his effect will be placed before the cabinet meeting. The move is aimed at facilitating self-development of houses in Mumbai. BJP MLC Pravin Darekar said, "In Mumbai, builders are earning profits by redeveloping buildings and housing complexes. There are several houses in dilapidated conditions. The society can redevelop their buildings and divide the profit. We are financing the redevelopment of four buildings in Mumbai now. Our Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank is supporting this cause, and has approved 37 projects." Darekar said. "The CM is very much in favour of this idea, and had assured a special policy," he said. He said that the government will offer many incentives and relaxations to promote the scheme.
