Maharashtra stakes claim to Lincoln House land
After the ministry of defence (MoD), the state government has claimed ownership of the land where the Lincoln House – which once housed the US consulate – is located. The Lincoln House, a two-acre property on Bhulabhai Desai Road at Breach Candy, was bought by the Poonawalla family for Rs 750 crore in 2015. The MoD had then got the deal stalled claiming ownership of the land. On Saturday, the Mumbai city collectorate held a hearing so that it could arrive at a final conclusion. Since the representative of the MoD was not present, the final hearing has been scheduled for February 26.
