MahaMetro gets 8.2 acres of defence land
The defence estates office of the Pune circle has handed over about 8.2 acres of defence land in the Range Hills area of the Khadki cantonment to the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro). The land is currently under the management of Director General Ordnance Factory (DGOF) and is spread across five land surveys in the Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) limits. This is a crucial development, as MahaMetro can now expedite work on the Metro line that passes through the defence land. “We have already moved our inventory to the site. Our endeavour is to commence the work on viaduct and pillars at the earliest,” a senior MahaMetro official said. From Dapodi, the Metro viaduct will cross the river and enter the Khadki area. After the Khadki railway station, the viaduct will cross the railway tracks and proceed to the Range Hills area. Thereafter, the Metro will go underground via Shivajinagar to Swargate.
