Ludhiana properties are now geo-tagged
Many prime properties of the municipal corporation are under encroachment, and civic officials are unable to get possession for the past several years. Earlier, officials were not even aware of the total number of its properties, but after geo-tagging, they have the location of some 300 properties in various parts of the city. Now, they are going to upload information related to their properties, along with geo-tagging on web portal of the local bodies department. However, civic officials did not conduct any concrete survey to find out the exact percentage of properties under encroachment. As per MC records, there were around 6,355 encroachments against which a case is still going on in the Punjab and Haryana high court. Officials had removed 2,300 encroachments, while the rest are still pending. As many as 217 religious encroachments are identified.
