Landowners near Pune's Purandar airport may move HC to protect properties
Landowners and farmers, who are set to lose their properties to the proposed Purandar airport, went into a huddle on Wednesday, a day after the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) Limited was appointed the special planning authority for the project. They are likely to move the Bombay high court. “We are fighting for our own land,” said Bapu Memane, the sarpanch of the Pargaon village. “We got a printout of the notification and read it out among the landowners. Soon, the Pune district administration officers will start taking stock of our plots. While we knew this would happen, it still feels very sudden,” he added. The landowners will meet on Sunday to discuss a future course of action. Vikas Memane, a landowner, said they will move the high court. Datta Dhurange, the president of the Vimantal Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti, said they would “chase away local administration officials, if and when they arrive.”
