Kerala govt plans to rehabilitate residents in coastal areas
Assembly speaker P Sreeramakrishnan, who visited coastal areas of Ponnani where sea erosion wreaked havoc, has announced that the government would permanently rehabilitate residents in the coastal area within one year. Protest was brewing among residents of the coastal areas in Ponnanitaluk as more than hundred houses were completely and partially damaged in the sea erosion after the onset of South-West monsoon. Speaker, who visited the region on Saturday along with district collector Amit Meena, local body members and officials, said that the rehabilitation schemes for the residents of the coastal region would be implemented under different housing projects of the state government.
