There seems to be no end to the troubles of the Bhagtanis, one of the prominent builder families of Mumbai. In yet another adverse ruling, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has held Diipesh Bhagtani of JVPD Properties guilty of violating several sections of the RERA, indulging in unfair practices and misrepresenting facts while selling flats in a now stalled Powai project. Bhagtani was asked to refund an amount of Rs 46.39 lakh with 15 per cent interest to the home buyer, who filed the complaint. The order was issued by MahaRERA member Bhalchandra Kapadnis while hearing a complaint filed by Donaven D’souza, who had booked a flat in Bhagtani Serenity in Powai in 2013. Earlier too, the MahaRERA had asked the Bhagtanis to repay money to a number of home buyers, who were similarly denied flats by the developer.
