Illegal buildings come up in Hyderabad's IT belt
The surge in real estate along upscale IT corridor has led to steep increase in illegal constructions. According to GHMC records, close to 1,000 of total 3,011 illegal constructions reported through 2018, fall under Hyderabad’s western belt or surrounding areas. Offenders have either added extra floors — without necessary permissions — or encroached into Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone of lakes. Most rampant though is filling of nalas to make way for concrete structures, officials said. This list includes places such as Manikonda ,Madhapur, Neknampur, Miyapur, Kukatpally among others. Both commercial and residential establishments including multiplexes, hotels, independent houses and apartments have come up in these places, on areas earmarked for water bodies.
