MCG has decided to use vacant plots in four private colonies developed by Unitech and Ansal API — PalamVihar, SushantLok 1, South City 1 and Nirvana Country — for which they haven’t received the cost for outstanding civic work from the builders as part of their takeover, for its own purposes. According to MCG officials, these two developers had expressed their inability to pay the estimated costs for the outstanding civic works, because of which, the government has directed MCG to take over the colonies on “as is where” basis. The corporation has begun the civic works in these colonies. MCG had initially thought of selling these assets to generate revenue, but later decided to utilise them instead. The cost of civic works approved for South City 1 is Rs 17.75 crore and for Nirvana Country is Rs 11.76 crore. The estimated cost for PalamVihar is Rs 19.32 crore. The DPR for the infra upgrade and maintenance cost was around Rs 68 crore.
