Gurgaon Development Authority to work on development plans
The Gurgaon Development Authority (GDA) will be structured under three different plans — the infrastructure development plan, mobility plan and urban environment and sustainability plans. Umashankar, officer on special duty (OSD) for the GDA, said the government looked at various models for GDA such as NOIDA, Jaipur Development Authority and Indore development Authority, and then decided “to invert the pyramid and work on the formation of GDA involving all the stakeholders right from the formation of the body”. “A city becomes smart when the people get the expected standard of living and have enough employment opportunities. To ensure the standard of living, we will work with the three plans, including the infra development plan, mobility and urban environment plans,” Umashankar said.
