The city police are planning to seek custody of Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra and his brother Ajay Chandra, who were picked up by the economic offence wing (EOW) of the Delhi police in Gurgaon. The duo, who were produced in Patiala House court that remanded them in police custody till Monday, have been booked under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC for allegedly failing to complete a housing project, Anthea Floors, in Gurgaon's Sector 70 in time. The two allegedly did not return the money to the buyers, who had demanded refunds for delay in handing over the possession of flats. Now, the Gurgaon police, which have been dragging their feet on the case so far, have suddenly waken up from their slumber and are planning to investigate around 150 similar cases pending against the duo mainly at Sector 40, Sadar, Civil Line and Udyog Vihar police stations.
