The Goa government has requested the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) to hear cases on behalf of GoaRERA. MahaRERA officials said very few cases have been registered with the Goa tribunal. “We can consider Goa’s request. But the Maharashtra government has to take the final decision” a senior MahaRERA official said. The officials said Goa wrote to the Maharashtra government after receiving only 20 complaints two months back. Goa currently has a one-man authority headed by Sudhir Mahajan on an interim basis. The panel has shortlisted the name for a full-time RERA authority for Goa. Once the authority passes an order, an aggrieved party can file an appeal with the RERA appellate authority as per the legislation. Any further appeal will be with the Bombay high court’s Goa bench.
