Flats in Kochi CRZ to be demolished
Adopting zero tolerance towards construction in the prohibited Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the demolition of five buildings, comprising nearly 500 flats, built near the Kochi coast in Kerala. A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Navin Sinha took note of an expert committee's opinion placed before the top court by advocate Romi Chacko on behalf of Kerala State Coastal Zone Management Authority (KSCZMA), and directed the authorities to raze the buildings within a month and submit a compliance report.
