The Koparkhairane police has registered an FIR against a builder for electricity theft with an assessment bill of Rs 2 lakh for illegal consumption of electricity for 12 months at the eight flats in the residential building constructed by him in Bonkode village. The complaint has been lodged by the MSEDCL's assistant engineer Sanjay Katkar (38), a Vashi resident, after he inspected the meter cabin at the building constructed on at gaothan plot in sector-12D on March 9. He found that out of 12 flats in the said building, eight flats were rented out by the builder Sayyad Ahmed of AM Builders, who had illegally used the power supply by directly connecting the wiring to the building’s electricity meter cabin. When the MSEDCL’s technicians calculated the power theft consumption, it was found that for 12 months, the eights flats have illegally used 2.97 KV of power supply and had consumed 21768 units. Hence, MSEDCL Company had sent the offender builder an assessment bill of Rs 2,08,340 apart from Rs 16,000 as compounding amount. As the builder did not pay the assessment bill for power theft even after one month of serving the notice, the assistant engineer Kadam registered an FIR on Friday against the builder Sayyad Ahmed, who has been booked under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
