On the occasion of International Labor Day, developers are taking initiatives to build the moral of their construction workers. Being the most integral part of the construction process, developers have acknowledged the fact that workers too need to pursue interests beyond the rugged life of a construction worker. The government for its part has introduced schemes and benefits for workers so as to ensure their wellbeing and health is safeguarded. In order to mitigate the hardship that construction workers face,Government schemes like Pradhan MantriRozgarYojana is a great step forward as it aids at safeguarding healthcare, education and skill development. "We do believe that construction workers constitute an integral part of the eco system and the entire fraternity should facilitate the welfare of each of them.At Spenta, every construction worker outsourced for our projects indirectly becomes a part of our Spenta family. We take it as our responsibility to ensure equal wages, insurances and other basic amenities. This international labor day, we thank all those hard workers who do a tremendous job in adverse work conditions and are building a better nation." Shares Farshid Cooper, Managing Director, Spenta Corporation. CREDAI Bengaluru is an example in this regard where they have taken up the initiative to organize a fun filled day for construction laborers from CREDAI member developers in the city on May 01, 2019 at Mount Carmel College Ground, Vasanth Nagar. Different sports activities and prize distribution for the winners will be the highlights of the day. As is widely known, construction laborers spend most of their time at the construction sites and hence, are left with not much time to pursue their hobbies or interests or any other entertainment. To gift them a day out with their families, CREDAI Bengaluru has organized this event that includes 100 and 200 meters races, long jump and shot put for men and women separately. The winners in the each category will be awarded by CREDAI Bengaluru. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all the participating construction laborers. Speaking on the May Day event, Ashish Puravankara, President, CREDAI Bengaluru said, "This initiative of hosting sports events for the labour community gives them an opportunity to come together under one platform and showcase their talent. On May Day, CREDAI takes this opportunity to recognize the relentless efforts of labour communities who form the backbone our industry. CREDAI is committed towards ensuring them a better work environment." May Day event is an annual event organized by CREDAI Bengaluru. Highlighting the response for this event, Adarsh Narahari, Secretary, CREDAI Bengaluru said, “Over the years, we have seen a great response for our Labor Day celebration. Laborers from different part of the city travel here to attend this event. We have developed this on the lines of various track held at the Olympics and it's a day for them to bask in the spirit of fun and competition. Most of these laborers start preparing well in advance to win the competition. This shows their enthusiasm and builds a good sportsman spirit among them.” PNB Housing Finance Limited continuing its commitment towards improving lives of construction workers, has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with CREDAI (The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India) CSR Foundation to train 13,000 construction workers on-site and off-site, pan India.
