Dehradun civic body razes 140 illegal buildings
As many as 140 illegal structures were razed to the ground by the civic authorities in several parts of the state capital on the sixth day of anti-encroachment drive. Over 500 workers of civic authorities were pressed into service to carry out the massive demolition drive on Chakrata road, Haridwar road and some other major parts of the city. Meanwhile, the identification of illegal building also continued as seven teams comprising 1,411 workers identified 317 structures that had encroached on the road. Apart from marking the illegal buildings on Chakrata and Haridwar roads, officials also identified encroachments on Rajpur road. They also claimed that several cases have come up where squatters are themselves removing the encroachments.
