The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is all set to launch its housing scheme 2019 by the end of this month. The number of flats on offer will be around 10,000, with the majority of flats in Narela. Most of them will be one-bedroom sets for economically weaker sections (EWS).

“We are trying our best to launch the housing scheme 2019 by the end of February, but no date has been finalised for the launch yet,” said a senior DDA official. “However, the proposal for the housing scheme will have to be first placed at the authority’s meeting, which will be chaired by lieutenant governor Anil Baijal. Only after the approval by the authority can the housing scheme be launched,” he said.

Initially, DDA had planned to offer around 21,000 flats in its 2019 scheme, but a large number of flats do not have the provisions of water availability. “There are many one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats that are under construction but these face water issues. The issue is being discussed with the Delhi Jal Board and as soon as availability of water is ascertained, we will be able to offer the flats in a later housing scheme,” the official said.

“We don’t want successful applicants to say that they have been allotted unlivable flats and that is why we want to ensure that all flats that are offered in our housing scheme have all the necessary amenities such as water availability, power connection, sewer connection etc,” he said.
