Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Monday made live a mobile application, which can be used to take pictures of illegal constructions or encroachment on public land and submit a complaint. The application, DDA 311, which can be downloaded for free on both Android and iOS platforms, received over 1,600 complaints by Tuesday morning. Those who don’t have a smart phone or are hesitant to download the application can submit a complaint online by visiting the DDA website and upload the photographs. When a complainant clicks a photograph, the GPS location gets tagged with it. The complainant can then select the jurisdiction of the civic agency they want to make the complaint to such as DDA, municipal corporations of Delhi, Delhi Police etc. Once the jurisdiction is selected, details of the nodal officer of the area appears to whom the complaint can be addressed to.The complainants could also keep their identity a secret and would be provided a unique user ID, which could be used to track the status of the complaint. DDA has set up a separate STF department to keep track of all complaints. It also needs to update the list of nodal officers of each zones as some of them have been transferred.
