Council of engineers writes to Punjab CM over illegal buildings in Ludhiana
The Council of Engineers (CoE) on Sunday moved a complaint to the CM office highlighting the “careless attitude” of MC officials, Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) for not acting against unauthorized construction of buildings. This came after the CoE conducted surveys in various localities to list out the irregularities. CoE president Kapil Arora said after developing areas such as BRS Nagar, Rajguru Nagar, Model Town Extension, Model Town, SBS Nagar, Kitchlu Nagar, Urban Estate Dugri, Sector 32, 39 etc, the concerned development bodies began to ignore the mandatory building bye-laws. As a result, the condition of all these colonies has worsened with over time. GLADA and MC have not only failed to keep a check on construction of illegal colonies, but also in taking action against the defaulters.
