With GST awareness campaigns in full swing, convention and conference halls are in great demand across the country. Hotel venues are mostly occupied by corporates and trade bodies that conduct workshops to guide their employees, dealers and members to adapt to the new system. When Mithun K Chittilappilly, MD of V-Guard Industries, checked into a hotel in Kolkata on Thursday, five parallel sessions on GST were being conducted in the building. He was planning to organize classes for his dealers on the topic. "I was told that hotels in Kolkata were booked for GST workshops. We have an in-house team for switching over to GST.We will arrange classes for our dealers this week," he said. Now, GST fever has become a nationwide phenomenon. Central Board of Excise and Customs said that its various local offices had conducted 4,577 outreach programmes on GST, over the past three months. "FADA, in partnership with our local organizations, is conducting awareness classes, in India. For this, I travelled to places like Nagpur and Guwahati. We have already conducted 13 classes and have scheduled 14 more before June ends," said John K Paul, president of FADA. The Indian arm of global professional services firms are also actively conducting GST sessions.
