Civic body to seek report on Cochin property tax
In the wake of reports that many of the private firms including cement manufacturing companies operating from Cochin Port Trust are not paying property tax as Kochi corporation is unable to conduct the assessment of the structures properly, the civic body authorities have decided to prepare a detailed report in this regard and place it before the corporation council when it meets next. According to opposition councillors, the local body failed to assess the private buildings came up in CPT area and thereby lost Rs 10 crore in the past ten years.
