CII’s- Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) appoints new Chairman and Vice-Chairman
On 6 October 2018, the Executive Board members of CII’s- Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) met at Hyderabad and formally appointed its Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Mr Vasudevan Suresh has been appointed as the Chairman and Mr Gurmit Singh Arora as the Vice-Chairman of IGBC. Mr Vasudevan Suresh was the former CMD of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO). He was the member of the panel for the Part 11 of National Building Code (NBC) dealing with sustainable development and green buildings. Mr Vasudevan Suresh was the Chairman of IGBC Policy & Advocacy Committee and played a pivotal role in reaching out to various Government departments highlighting that offering suitable policy incentives will go a long way in accelerating the adoption of green building in India. Mr Suresh was involved in the design and development of IGBC green building rating system for green cities and green villages. Mr. Gurmit Singh Arora is the National President of Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and was the Chairman of IGBC Mumbai Chapter. He has played a catalytic role in the spread and growth of green buildings in the Mumbai and Maharashtra. Under his leadership and guidance, today over 1,360 green building projects in Maharashtra are adopting IGBC green building rating systems. MrParasuRaman R, Founding Chairman, IGBC & Founding Vice Chairman, World Green Building Council (WGBC) said that Mr Vasudevan Suresh and Mr. Gurmit Singh Arora bring their rich and varied experience to IGBC leadership and their expertise will go a long way in building a greener and healthier India.
