Chandigarh's fire department fails to curb violators
The city has witnessed frequent fire incidents in the recent past, especially during the summer. Lack of fire equipment, unapproved building structures are key reasons that lead to such mishappenings. The fire and emergency service department of the Chandigarh municipal corporation has conducted fire safety audit of buildings from time-to-time but the authorities failed to take strict action against violators and things have hardly changed on ground, posing serious threat to many lives.
