After demolishing their illegal structures, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has now served notices of Rs 1.5 lakh on 17 violators. Notices were issued to allottees in Sector 46, Ramdarbar and Mauli Jagran. These notices were for recovery between Rs 5,000 and Rs 12,000. So far, the board has issued recovery notices to around 70 such violators amounting to Rs 5 lakh. The process was first started in August, when the board had issued notices to 13 allottees in Sector 45, whose illegal structures were demolished on August 7. A senior CHB official said recovery notice includes expenditure on workers, material and machinery used by the board during the demolition exercise. The violators have been given 15-day period to pay recovery charges, after which the board will cancel allotment of their flats. Similar notices will also be issued to other violators in the coming days, he added.
