While the UT administration is in the process of finalising long-pending demand of the industrialists of the city to allow transfer of leasehold properties to freehold in phases I and II of Industrial Area, the administration has sought report from the UT estate office over number of such plots and the period within which these plots were allotted to allottees. A senior UT official said once they finalise the draft, it will then be tabled before the UT committee, which was formed by the UT administrator VP Singh Badnore, for considering pending demands of industrialists, he added. In the last LokSabha polls, the BJP had promised the industrialists to fulfil their demand of conversion from leasehold to freehold. Recently, the administration had formed two separate committees— one for pending demands of industrialists and another for pending demand of traders. The administration had last converted leasehold plots to freehold in 1983 in commercial category. The matter was also taken by up MP KirronKher with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD).
