Builders in Kochi seek digitised system
Builders have sought a fully digitized system for hassle-free approval of building plans. They want minimal human intervention so that there won’t be any delay in getting plan approval from local bodies. “As per the e-governance system practised by the Kochi corporation, builders have to upload all documents online and then submit the hard copy. After this they have to wait for officials concerned to verify the documents, conduct site visit and decide on giving approval for the plan. This is a time-consuming process. Instead the entire system should be made system driven,” said confederation of real estate developers association of India (Credai) representative M V Antony. “If the applications do not meet requirements, then the electronic system would automatically reject it. If accepted we should be able to get approval online,” he said. They want a system where queries can be posted online, and all payments made online. “Though state government took some half-hearted effort to implement a system, they couldn’t take it forward,” said a city-based builder.
