In an initiative to utilise its vacant flats across India, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to offer this accommodation on rent to employees of other government departments as well as private companies with a turnover of over Rs 50 crore. A recent notification from BSNL West UP says that government accommodations (type I, II, III and IV) which are vacant should be offered for rent to both public and private sector employees. According to BSNL officials, at present four types of accommodations, including apartment, bungalow and quarters, are available for rent. Pradeep Agrawal, executive engineer of the construction department of BSNL Agra said, “The plinth area of various types of accommodation range from 40 square meter to 98 square meter. An employee of a private firm which has over Rs 50 crore turnover a year, can apply for rented accommodation via its firm. This scheme is available across the country.” “A form can be obtained from BSNL circle office and after filling it correctly with attached required documents, it needs to be submitted. A rent accommodation allotment committee would inspect the details and allot the house as per its availability,” he said.
