Bombay HC ordered BMC to raze illegal floors of Dongri building
The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the BMC commissioner to ensure demolition within four months of all illegal floors of five multi-storey buildings near Kesarbai Mansion in Dongri, which collapsed last month, killing 14 persons and injuring nine. A bench of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Bharti Dangre was hearing a PIL filed by Ayub Memon, a social worker affiliated with the NCP, that alleged that under the guise of repairs, seven to eight additional floors were illegally built on the five buildings. The buildings originally had only four storeys. The PIL claimed that three of the buildings didn’t even seek permission for repairs.
