The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on Wednesday sent managing director of real estate company BCL Homes to Burail jail till May 10 for failing to repay 28 flat or plot buyers, granting him a month to come out with a payment plan. “Baldev Chand Bansal was directed to come up with a payment plan for at least the principal amount. He told court that his project was in doldrums due to default in payment by buyers, citing it as the reason behind him failing to make the payment. The court then pointed out he did not even have requisite permissions for the project,” sources in the commission said. The due amount runs into crores of rupees. If he failed to pay the money to consumers, he would be sentenced, the commission said. The main objection of the commission was that “he has not shown any inclination to pay and only made statements”.
