The Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George announced a Rs. 11,000 crore package under the Nagarothana scheme. The scheme will include white-topping of several roads.

The white-topped roads will last longer and there is less chance of potholes forming. A total of 93.47 km of roads will be white-topped. This includes 29 roads and six junctions. Essentially, white-topping is covering the existing bitumen layer with a concrete slab. The technology has been adopted on a section of NICE Road.

TenderSURE project will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 659 crore on 12 main roads (16.57 km) and interconnecting roads (25 km). The Minister also reviewed the works related to the construction of a grade separator near Shivananda Circle and an elevated corridor near Minerva Circle. Thin white topping and ultra-thin white toppings which are laid on the existing Bitumen asphalate will be more economical and will enhance the sustainability of the road from 5 years to 15 years minimum.

George also announced that a feasibility study was being done by the Railways for a rail link from Yesvantpur railway station to Kempegowda International Airport.
