Aurangabad civic body starts sealing drive over property tax dues
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation has launched a drive to recover property tax dues from the tax payers, who have defaulted on the payment. The AMC has launched its drive in all the eight zones, according to a statement issued by tax recovery and assessment officer MahavirPatni. The civic body had given time and offered 50% discount on the delayed payment charges if the owners cleared their dues by January 31. Sources said that the cash-strapped civic body had launched the special drive during the financial year 2018-19 and expected people’s cooperation. Despite providing the scheme and giving ample time, many property holders didn’t respond positively. Sources said that during the special tax recovery drive, the authorities had set a target of Rs 23 crore from property tax collection. But it could collect only Rs 11.41 crore by January 31.
