On the sidelines of the dynamic Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2019 currently underway in Gandhinagar, several historic MOUs were signed by the Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) and other organisations to create strategic partnerships. The first MOU was signed between the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi and Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL).As per the MOU, IIT Delhi, through its incubation unit FITT,will be planning a unique research and development institute in Dholera which can take up a number of innovative projects and thereby provide knowledge transfer beneficial to the next generation at large. A selective list of projects will be charted out with mutual understanding once the Institute is in place.DICDL had approached IIT Delhi to assess the strategic partnership global the two by way of establishing a Research and Development Institute in Dholera with the help of FITT. DICDL and IIT-Delhi will join hands and work together in planning the infrastructure development of Dholera SIR such that a research-based approach is undertaken to bring in innovative technologies that help sustain the environment in the Greenfield city benefitting industry and society in general. Another MOU was signed between Dholera Special Investment Regional Development Authority (DSIRDA) and Torrent Power Limited for creating state-of-the-art distribution network within the jurisdiction of Dholera SIR. As per the MOU, Torrent Power Limited will receive the distribution license for area under the jurisdiction of Dholera SIR.Torrent Power Ltd has planned to execute Advance Distribution Management System with GIS based EHV substations, SCADA, IT Enabled Customer Service Centre and Advance MeteringSystem along with underground cable network to cater to the demand of the consumers in the SIR area. Accordingly, a capital Expenditure of Rs 1000 crore is being planned over a period of the next five yearsto meet the required demand as per the development plan. The next MOU was signed between the Dholera Special Investment Regional Development Authority (DSIRDA) and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL). GPCL, on behalf of Government of Gujarat,would facilitate MNRE/SECIto obtain necessary permissions through its implementing agencies to acquire the requisite approvals and clearances from the concerned departments of the state. GPCL would also co-ordinate amongst various state departments to expedite the implementation of the said project. An MOU was also signed between the Dholera Special Investment Regional Development Authority (DSIRDA) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of a 100 km Expressway between Ahmedabad and Dholera under the Bharatmala programme.The Expressway will be the shortest and fastest connectivity from Ahmedabad to Dholera SIR planned with the objective of reaching Dholera SIR in less than one hour. This road connectivity will be most essential to get potential investors to Dholera and will boost the manufacturing and GDP of India. DSIRDA, on behalf of Government of Gujarat, will facilitate NHAI for provision of land within jurisdiction of Dholera Special Investment Region for the implementation of Expressway which will fall within Dholera Special Investment Region. Another important MOU was signed between the Government of Gujarat and the Airports Authority of India. Airports Authority of India will be joining as the majority stakeholder with 51% equity stake in the Dholera Airport Project. The Proposed Greenfield Airport Project shall be developed by Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL) having AAI-GoG-NICDIT as stakeholders with the equity ratio of 51:33:16 respectively. An MOU was also signed between Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) and the CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co. LTD, China. DICDL had been in discussion with CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co. LTD to understand and assess the business of manufacturing of Metro Rolling Stocks which the company manufactures. DICDL and CRRC will work together to identify the availability of land in Dholera SIR for construction and erection facility of CRRC Rolling Stone manufacturing plant related t Metro and may also be extendable to other allied manufacturing facilities in future. CRRC intends to establish the plant with all required facilities at about of Rs 400 crore and employment generation of about 450 people. DICDL will provide land with plug and play infrastructure to the plot level, help in facilitating required approvals and setting up skill development. Dholera is one of India’s largest Greenfield Industrial Cities located in the state of Gujarat. With a total area of 920 Sqkm, Dholera is the world’s first "Platinum" rated Greenfield city. Dholera, through its impressive infrastructure, offers the largest land parcels in India ranging from 0.05 ha to 140 ha. It is an ideal destination for logistic parks and industries for different areas like Defence, Aviation, Automobile, Heavy Engineering, Steel, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology, Solar, etc. due to its large contiguous land parcels, ICT enabled plug and play infrastructure, ease of doing business and sustainable social infrastructure. Speaking about the MOUs, Mr. Jai Prakash Shivahare, Managing Director at Dholera said, “We wish to benefit from the expertise of each of these prestigious and esteemed organisations. Dholera will have world-class infrastructure and facilities and these organisations are known to provide state-of-the-art planning, design, innovation, and implementation for the projects. We wish to make Dholera a self-sustainable city and an ideal location for business and residence.”
