Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the state government has taken up the 'Apon Ghar' Home Loan scheme in partnership with the State Bank of India to ensure that all government employees could build their own house. The chief minister said this while taking part as chief guest in the celebration to mark the milestone of 1,000 beneficiaries of the loan scheme and Rs 1,000 crore disbursed in a programme held in Guwahati on Tuesday. "All state government employees must work with integrity and dedication. You must improve your skills to suit the requirements of modern day work culture and be motivated by a sense of social responsibility while discharging your duties," Sonowal urged the government employees in the programme. Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the permanent state government employees can now avail the benefits of the 'Apon Ghar' scheme after completing one year of service.
