Around 6,000 flats for EWS to come up in Panchkula

The government is planning to launch a scheme to provide shelters for residents of Indira Colony, Rajiv Colony, KharakMangoli village, said Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta during an inaugural ceremony of newly constructed bridge at Sector 22/23 near Gurudwara Nada Sahib at a cost of Rs 3.61 crore. “A scheme has been finalised to provide shelters to weaker sections and places has also been earmarked. Under this scheme, around 6,000 flats will be constructed in Sector 20 and Sector 28,” Gupta said. A bridge at the Tangririver between Khatauli and Alipur village has also got approval and the work will start soon, he said. “A grant of Rs 5.60 crore has been accorded to 16 panchayats. Also, work on another bridge on Ghaggar river at a cost of Rs 60 crore will start soon,” he added. Talking about some of the upcoming projects, he said a railway over bridge will be constructed in Sector 19 at a cost of Rs 30 crore. Panchkula will soon get 20 air-conditioned buses on the lines of CTU. “Families who do not have a gas connection will get it by January 26,” he said.
