AP mulls use of drones to check illegal construction
The state government is contemplating usage of drones to check construction of illegal structures in urban areas. The state government has introduced several reforms in the administration of urban civic bodies in the last three years to bring down corrupt practices and to provide better services to citizens. The municipal administration department, which oversees the performance of officials in municipal towns and corporations, has launched citizen friendly applications as well. The people have been encouraged to lodge all kinds of grievances right from drinking water to garbage lifting to drain cleaning to dog menace through mobile based application. Similarly, the government has introduced online filing of building plan approvals. "It will be easy to verify whether the builders are sticking to the plans granted through drones," municipal administration director K Kanna babu told TOI. The government’s final approval is pending to by the drones.
