Ahmedabad civic body seals 5,473 properties over tax dues
In a bid to increase property tax collection the tax department of the AMC went on a drive and sealed 5,473 properties which had defaulted on paying their property tax. According to deputy municipal commissioner Arjav Shah, the AMC in the first week of February has sealed a total of 5,473 properties and has recovered Rs 21.16 crore. The AMC has intensified its drive against property tax defaulters and has even decided to confiscate properties. In the past, the AMC had taken possession of two properties at Re 1 after no bidders turned up for the auction. The threat of auction had also forced nearly five property owners to pay up their property tax arrears.
