Adani Group wins bids for 5 airports
Adani Group stormed its way into the airports business by winning bids to operate five of the six non-metro airports being privatised, several publications reported. Sources said the infra major made “very aggressive” bids – some several times those by competitor GMR – to bag Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangalore, Trivandrum and Lucknow airports for the next 50 years. The bids for the sixth airport, Guwahati, will be opened on Tuesday. Experts feel the entry of Adani will enhance competition in a sector dominated by GMR (Delhi and Hyderabad airports) and GVK (Mumbai and, till recently, Bangalore).
