A portion of Mumbai’s Coastal Road likely to be built by L&T
L&T have been selected as the contractor to construct a part of the coastal road – the stretch from Priyadarshani Park at Napeansea road to Haji Ali by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The proposal for the civic standing committee’s approval would be the next huge step. The civic body had estimated the construction cost of the 3.7km stretch at ?2719.75 crore. However, the bid value of the package has not been revealed yet by BMC. It is said by the officials that the final project cost would be out in 10 to 15 days after all the calculations. In the early May, the first package from Worli end to Haji Ali was given to joint venture of Hindustan Construction Company and Hyundai Development Corporation. BMC expects the contractor to mobilise resources during monsoon and start the construction soon after, as the work demands to be completed in 4 years.
