400 PMAY flats ready for allotment
With nearly 400 residential flats in Ramganga Nagar locality here ready for allotment under Pradhan MantriAwasYojana (PMAY), the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) has asked beneficiaries registered for allotment to clear their dues first. In March, BDA had in collaboration with a private bank held a special camp that saw participation of around 200 people, but only 150 of them bought registration forms, and just 103 got themselves registered with the scheme after paying a registration fee of Rs 5,000. The cost of a finished flat is Rs 4 lakh, but the flats are available for Rs 1.75 lakh each, as there is a subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh — Rs 1.5 lakh to be paid by the Centre and Rs 1 lakh by the state government — under PMAY. Thus, a beneficiary needs to pay the remaining amount of Rs 1.75 lakh. However, according to officials, after the flats are ready for allotment, allottees are giving a lukewarm response to the authority and have been delaying taking allotment of their flats after paying the dues.
